The taxi Registry is a data platform that pools mobile apps for clients and service companies, but not an app itself.

The Taxi Register is a platform that collects real-time data on the location and availability of all taxis in service. Without changing current business models, it also provides an overview of supply and demand. It is a tool that bridges the gap between systems and dispatch and different mobility applications. This is an essential step in integrating taxi transport services into mobility solutions.

Developed by the Bureau du taxi de Montréal, in collaboration with the Information Technology Department of the City of Montreal and the Urban Innovation Laboratory (LIUM), the Registry is also the result of the combined efforts of several other partners of the metropolitan taxi industry, brought together in a multi-party working committee.

Thanks to the partnership with Polytechnique Montréal, which analyzes data from the Taxi Register, it will be possible to offer new urban mobility solutions that are advantageous for taxi workers, their customers and even the environment.

In addition to promoting the emergence of new services, the data provided by the Registry will facilitate the decision-making price of public administrations in terms of mobility management.

After launching the development work in the spring of 2017, it was between May and November 2018 that the Taxi Bureau proceeded to connect to the Registry, the 4,400 taxi vehicles in regular service in the City of Montreal. As the stage of integrating the functionality of the electronic hauling system is completed, our technology development teams are now working to finalize the API standardization of the platform.

The Taxi Registry represents an exceptional opportunity for the taxi industry in Montreal to increase its visibility with interested customers and to integrate into the overall offer of urban mobility services.
